As a guide always remember the general rule – the bigger the number the finer the sewing needle.

.Embroidery needles have longer eyes than needles used for plain sewing (sharps). They are medium length.

Size 7 is used for medium weight embroidery on plain weave fabric.

This needle accomdates three strands of stranded embroidery cotton quite easily.

This is a favourite needle for smocking.
