This is a sampler to remember the 150th anniversary of the German Settlers arriving in what is now the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The blue border is symbolic of the blue cotton printed cloth they used to make clothing that became known as Ujamani. The settlers had small plots of ground where they grew vegetables and flowers and kept a few animals. Church was an important part of the settlers life.
If you are descended from these German Settlers remember your roots and stitch a cross stitch sampler. Perhaps you may want to personalize the sampler by replacing the “150th Anniversary” with the surname of your family that came out with this group of settlers.
