Orange Breasted Waxbill MD

Orange Breasted Waxbills are found in parts of the Eastern Cape and in the north eastern parts of South Africa.

Pairs and small flocks are found in waterside grass and reeds and in the tall reed grasses in savanna grasslands. These charming little birds are very active and hop about constantly, flicking their tails and wings.

They eat soft shoots and insects.
