An angel on the top of the Christmas tree is a German tradition, the Nuremburg tinsel angel being one of the more famous examples and it was only in the time of Queen Victoria when Christmas trees became popular in Britain that a tree top angel became a British Christmas tradition. Of course this tradition quickly spread throughout the English speaking world and today placing the angel on top of the tree is part of the Christmas ritual in many of our homes.
