Make a magic ring or if you prefer, ch 6, join with slst to form a ring.

Rnd 3 Ch 4, *dc in next dc, ch1* Repeat * to * to end of round. Join with slst to third ch of beginning ch4.
Rnd 4 Ch 3, dc in first ch-1 sp, dc in each dc and in each ch-1 sp to end of round. Join with slst to first dc. (60 dc)
Rnd 5 Ch 5, skip next dc, *dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next dc * Repeat * to end of round. Join with slst to third ch of beginning ch-5. (30 ch-2 sps)
Rnd 6 Ch 3, 2dc in first ch-2sp, *dc in next dc, 2dc in next ch-2 sp* Repeat * to * to end of round. Join with slst to first dc – (90 dc)
Rnd 7 Ch 1, sc in same st *ch 5, skip next 2dc, sc in next dc*. Repeat * to * to last 2dc, ch 2, skip last 2 dc, dc in first sc to form last loop. (30 loops)
Rnd 8 Ch 1, sc in same loop, *ch 5, sc in next loop * Repeat * to * to end of round. Ch 2, dc in first sc to form last loop.
Rnd 9 Ch 1, sc, 9 dc in same loop, 9 dc in next loop, *sc in next loop, 9 dc in next loop * Repeat from * to * to end of round. Join with slst to first sc. Finish off

You have completed your crochet doily and need to stiffen it in order to make a lace bowl.
1. Soak your crochet doily in a bowl of fabric stiffener until saturated.
- 2. Remove and gently squeeze out the excess liquid. Place the doily around the outside of an upside-down glass bowl. Shape gently, making sure the doily is evenly centred on top to void it becoming lopsided.
- 3. When your doily is completely dry, gently pull it off the glass bowl
Take care not to pull it out of shape.
- 4. You may choose to decorate your bowl by threading ribbon through the row of holes below the edging.
