Great excitement when our parcel of Monk’s cloth arrived this week. This cotton fabric has been well-nigh impossible to acquire and is requested time and again for rug hooking, and backing fabric for punch needling. Here is information for those of you who are not familiar with Monk’s cloth.
It is soft and drapes well and as a result is a favourite for table cloths with fringed edges.
Easy to punch and durable.
It unravels easily and shrinks when washed. Finish off edges before washing and allow extra fabric for shrinkage.
Not fused like Aida but is a loose over and under, four strand weave.
Punch needles are available for those of you eager to try out this popular craft.
