Dear Needlework friend

A warm welcome to The Craft Gallery February newsletter. Our new Craft Gallery website is up and running and we are so glad to have you here. Every effort has been made to ensure that it is user friendly.

Many of you have requested a regular Newsletter and I shall endeavour to meet this need as often as possible. The format of our newsletter wil be slightly different. In addition to product updates, we will offer information on needlework skills, links to sites which may assist and be of interest to you. We also look forward to showcaseing the work of Craft Gallery friends and to receiving feedback from you.

Let’s start with Creative Canvas work

Tried and tested familiar stitches e.g. tent and cross stitch, are a good starting point when you set out to choose stitches and then the exciting bit begins – finding new and more challenging stitches and there are many of them in books and on the internet. I am including instructions for Rice Stitch a very attractive and useful stitch.

Materials

Ten, fourteen or eighteen count interlock canvas, a tapestry needle, thread and a pair of embroidery scissors is all you need.

( See below links to these products available from The Craft Gallery).

Most of us have half- used scraps of thread of all colours and I advise you to start with what you have.

I love a mixture of colours but a limited palette is equally attractive.

Full Range of DMC Embroidery Thread in Stock

Knot Garden embroidery kits available in pink and Autumn colourways.

I hope you enjoy spending some time developing your Creative Canvas skills.

Best Wishes
